If so , what do you think of it ?

For some reason the idea intriges me........a 22/6mm , Clark , 220 Howell or the like with a fast twist barrel and shooting the heavy match bullets.........

I had a 22-284 for a while. Jimmy Knox made me some 90 grain bullets. When I got the velocity that I wanted the bullets came apart. Above 3600fps they went all over the place. I set the barrel back 2 times in 1100 rounds. I used an 8 twist barrel. Too much trouble for very little gain if any.

Here's a thought...maybe try the .300 WSM casing necked down to .22? It would be interesting, although erosion would be a killer.

Ever heard of the Eargashplitten Loudenboomer? It was a old test done a while ago, a 50 BMG casing necked down to .22. I think they used 230 grains of a unknown ball powder and a 50 grain bullet and the barrel was completely devestated after 8 rounds. I thought it was kinda funny. They got almost 5600 fps with a 48" barrel.

No, the Eargashplitten Loudenboomer was a necked down 378 or 460Weatherby.

A friend has been using just a 220 Swift with
an 8 inch twist to shoot 80 grainers. I think
that anything beyond that may be reaching the point of dimenishing return. I have seen a
22/06. He had to be real picky which bullets
he shot due to the bullets coming apart over
4200 fps.

224 Vais.

6.5x55 necked down and fireformed. You can skip the fireforming and call it something else.

80 grain VLD at 3800fps
