Bwana-beRe: 7mm wildcat question
That STW is just perfect for that long tube. A 7 RUM might get you some speed gain, but I think you've got a great round, and with heavy bullets, pretty different from a run-of-the-mill 7 Rem.
What's the guy making the long VLD's Ciarct.. something? Heavy match bullets don't really need to fit in the magazine. Maybe get the throat tapered out to seat your favorite, and then find a hunting bullet that will handle the jump (if you're trying to do that with this thing.)

StrawbossYou might PM Tim-in-TN about his experience with the 7mm/338RUM. He has one and is building several more as the performance is excellent. I'm sure he'll be happy to share his experience/data with it.

Savage99rdm,
Are you thinking of rechambering the existing barrel or getting a new barrel? Also what is the purpose of the rifle?
