D HumbargerThese are loads listed in Ackleys books.
197.5 gr (what bullet was that??)
75 gr gr 4350 3300
or 75 gr imr 4831 3175
225 gr / with 72 gr imr 4350 3055 fps
225 gr / with 75 gr imr 4831 3066 fps

KabluewyThanks. That's kinda interesting.
As I remember, I'm supposed to drop 10% for starting loads. That's 7 to 7.5 grs.
Hummm, I see where the AI guys get their optimistic velocity. Just add five grs.
I think I'll be on the safe side starting 10% less. I was estimating 75 grs of H4831 as being close to max with a 200 gr match bullet.
Anyway, I have changed course somewhat. Now, I'm thinking of having one of those guys in the business, a custom handloader, make up some ammo for this first run, since it will be part of the test firing at Lother Walther.
I'm comfortable developing my own handloads for it, but not so comfortable making ammo for LW to shoot in it for the first time.

Now I can't see why you are concerned QL only calls those loads from 69900 to 77,000psi.

snowmanKabluewy I don't have a 323 Hollis but I do have an 8mm/338 which is very similar. Using Win cases CCI 250 primers and IMR 4350 and 195 gr Hornady bullets the max load in my rifle is 73 grs. 72 grs is the most accurate and that is what I have been shooting. I would suggest you start at 68 grs and work up.Hope this helps.

KabluewyYes. That will be very helpful. The 8mmx338 is very close.
Did you try IMR4831 or H4831?
Thanks.

snowmanKabluewy Win cases CCI250 Imr 4831 and 200 gr Speers.Max was 75grs.Not as consistant as 4350 and slightly compressed. If you want to try something other than 4350 I would try RL19. 4831 may be better with 220 gr bullets.

323In my 323 Hollis I use 78.0gr 0f H-4831sc cci 250 with a 200gr partition. My 323 has been free bored as well so work your way up to that. Best of luck and the only bullet to use is the 200gr partition!

enfieldsparesA bullet some think well in Europe is the Prvi Partizan 185 grain "GROM". Here's a link to a review of it.
http://www.riflesintheuk.com/bullets.htmAnd here in more detail.
http://www.artemis-hunting.com...ooting%20Sportst.pdfI have an 8x60S and intend to try these "GROM" when I next visit the UK stockist.
I don't use US powders in my 8x60S so can't help with loading data for your somewhat larger Hollis!
