So I have the oportunity to get an M1 carabine, however in mexico the M1 in .30 is illegal, is there anything else this can be rebarreled into so I can get it, or should I just pass on it?

5.7MM spitfire semiauto or they can be easily made into a pump action & rebarreled to 44 mag.

both these rounds use the original magazine.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Patricio,
Many years ago, I had a 30 carbine converted to a 30 Kurtz. The barrel is rechambered and the gas port modified. The 30 Kurtz is a take off from the German 7.9 Kurtz, using a 308 Win. case shortened to 1.29". It's a bottle neck. The power is substantially more the the original cartridge and it feeds well in the original magazine without modification. However, you are still limited to the short 110 gr. RN bullets.

Several years ago there was a Guy that was converting the M1 Carbine to 45 Win Mag. Now that would be a fantastic pig and deer gun out to 150 yds or so. Sorry I don't remember anymore about it.
