6mm-06 Data from Yesterday
My 6mm-06 sports a 28" Pac Nor Stainless match barrel on a 700 Remington action. Shot 3, 3shot groups in the wind. I got 2 groups about a 1/2" and one 3/4". The group I chose was with a Hornady 87 HP Boat tail and RL22 Powder. Velocity was 3363fps and an extreme spread of 29. Good for long range P-Dogs and Jack Rabbits. I believe I'll take it to Texas in March and shoot a hog at 600yds. Already did that with a 270 Winchester.

A fairly mild load Jerry?

Not mild by intention, but chosen for accuracy. Besides according to Lyman #50 240 Wby 3409 fps, and
6mm Remington 3335 fps. No need for more IMO.

Here's some velocities chronograph with 6mm-06 and 87 grain bullets. IMR 4350, 3520 to 3585 fps. IMR4831 3513fps and RL22 3513 to 3547fps. As you all can see I am shooting a little slower load for accuracy. I haven't hit 3600fps yet, but believe I could if I wanted to.

Couple of things about loading the 6mm-06. You may have to turn the case necks. Some chambers have a tight neck area. Also you will want to reduce your top loads when using military brass as the brass is thicker and theres less volume.

Thanks for the reply, I only use commercial brass Remington 270 Winchester. Trimmed to 2.484. I use Remington 270, as I load Winchester brass in 270, just to eliminate mix ups. I haven't performed any neck turning yet, but I will check case necks in the future.
