Has anybody experimented with slower twist (1:12 or more)in .338 caliber?

Thanks,

Pablo,
I posted a similiar thread on the same subject a year ago? I did a search for you.

P.S. I live just up the road from you off Franklin Rd. Are you a 'smith? I'm still looking for someone local who knows how to use a lathe.

Oops,
I was afraid that. Punch in "338 12 twist" on the search feature using all forums as choices. Should bring up some past threads.

Mtn,
What kind of lathe work do you need, I might be able to find time, being retired I give interesting projects first priority.

I spoke to Dan Lilja at SCI about this very subject. His opinion was if a person was going to stay with 225 or lighter bullets 1 in 12" twist should work well.

I had a .338-08 AI built last year w/a 1-12" Douglas. The small case dictated lighter bullets, which is why I went w/the slower twist. It shoots 180 gr Nosler BT's at around 1" with various loads. I have some 210 grain Partitions ready to go, but haven't made it to the range yet.
