If I want to make brass for the 6,5-06 I can use 25-06 cases and just pass them through a common 6,5 die of this caliber or I need a special case forming die??

The same question using 30-06 brass??

if you start from 25/06 no problem you just need to neck up ( lyman M expander )

in 06 best is to run in 270 WIN fulls izer ( without expander ) and after run in 6.5/06 full ( with out expander ) BUT you get a thick neck to very thick neck , if your chamber is design to use thick neck that OK but check that before try to shoot

I use 270 win neck down in the full sizer in 6.5/06 and case tril to 06 lenght , I just make very light neck turning to get perfect case

I also use 270 brass sized and trimmed. I have had a few 25-06 necks split when sizing up and never had a problem downsizing.

You might also try annealing the cases before going up or down in caliber. I turn 444 marlin cases into 308/444 in one pass after annealing and then into 243fl if I need 6mm super cases. The only time I've had problems is when useing nickel cases and then its split necks after only a few fireings. 3006 and 270's should be easily necked down with out problems.

I made 400 cases for my 6.5-'06 by necking up Winchester .25-'06 brass with no problems at all. I found it very easy.

I use regular 30-06 cases run thru a 270 die without expander then thru a fl 6.5-06 fl die without expander.

I load my fire forming load and shoot, before I load them again, I outside turn the necks and then neck size only from then on using Redding type S dies.

Works for me.

Be sure your 6.5-06 chamber was cut long enough for .270 brass, which is a bit longer than
the 30-06, if you choose to use that case.

As mentioned, 270 brass is longer then -06 brass, something to watch out for. I use only new 30-06 brass necked down once in the sizing die, and outside turn the necks until they will just chamber (clearance of 0.0015-0.002 max). This works fine for me. the reason for the new only brass is that previously fired brass will often buckle or split. FWIW - Dan

Just go 25-06. By far the simplest. I even stamp a dot where the "2" is on the headstamp is and then a 1/16 inch number "6" in front of that, then I have a 6.5-06 readymade headstamp!

I agree. In addition, you will not end up with too-thick case necks that require turning down, as you might when going from a bigger to a smaller neck diameter.
