is a 6.9 grn RWS super H point too light to shoot in a RWS mod 48? how about in a RWS mod 34?

budiceale---Havent tried them but as a guess,would say it would be ok. People shoot cleaning pellets in them and not heard of damage--even 2-3 cleaning pellets would be lighter than 6.9 grains. Would also think RWS being the maker would give a warning not to be shot in certain models. I use the Crosman Premiers in my RWS 52/48 and they are 10.5 grains---seems I did have some lighter pistol pellets that really didnt shoot so well but did no damage.

Are they hollow points? I've never found them to be very accurate. And they don't go fast enough to have any real advantage in an airgun. It's accuracy you are after, if you put a pellet in the right place, your prey will go down like you flicked a switch. If you don't hit the spot, the pellet you miss with will just wound it.
I recently killed a few Grey squirrels for a farmer, when a friend skinned them for cooking he found five .22 pellets in one of them.

Over here Crosman Premieres are very expensive, try Accupells 7.9gr? , JSBs 8.4gr. Do a bit of testing to get the best groupeing.

If you use cleaning pellets, put a lead pellet in, shove it in a bit, then a cleaning pellet or two, and another lead pellet behind.
This will squash the cleaning pellet and do a better job.
A cleaning pellet has no weight to slow down the spring, so I wouldn't use them on their own in a springer.
But you really don't need to clean an airgun barrel to often, just if you don't shoot it for a long time. Clean and lube it to prevent any rusting in storage.

Specialist---Crosman Premiers are expensive over there,just the opposite here. Crosman Premiers are carried by Wal Mart and one of the cheaper pellets. I don't use cleaning pellets,I just mentioned them as an example. On that rare,almost never occasion I decide my barrel needs cleaning,I push a dry patch through. To push it through I use heavy(.135)weed trimmer line.

thanks for the responses. i was concerned that the light pellets might be too light for a more powerful rifle. i'll just stick with the crossman premier hollow pts for my rws 48, rws superdomes for my sons rws 34, and use the light rws hollow pts in my hw35.

for cleaning i use a small wooden dowel to push dry q-tips through the barrel. not the kind with the plastic stick but the old style with the rolled paper stick. for 177 barrels they fit real well. for a break barrel models you can push the whole q-tip through from the breach end(two "patches" at once). for my mod 48 i cut them in half and push them through from the muzzle very carefully to avoid damaging the muzzle.

All head shots, but I was only shooting at 20 yards or so.
They were getting in a stable, the farmer thought they were chewing up the harnesses, I figure it was rats actually doing the damage.
So I put out poison for rats as well, as I wasn't going to sit up all night waiting for them to show up.

My vote as I've shot most every thing . JSB Exact Diabolo's Super Accurate as in single hole groups at 50 Yd. Accurate . Flatten squirrels at 50 Yd.!. Crows , Rabbits , Cottontails or Jacks .
