if you do a search here, you will find this has been posted before- and the numbers they post( re. power and # of shots) is pure unadulterated bullshit. there is no way the technology of the day made possible the figures they quote. hell, even with today's high tech materials/ engineering you can't duplicate their numbers.an 800psi reservoir launching a 500-1000 lead ball will have the trajectory of a mortar and would NEVER give you 30 useful shots. no doubt a tribe of Native Americans would be impressed but the actual usefullness of such a rifle would be limited if push came to shove. i guess perception is everythting, though. it is really interesting that an air gun was even used on the expedition, though.

Was this air rifle not employed in battle? The duplicated the rifle. Why couldn't it be possible?

Not a "bit of history," but a bit of sheer bullshit. Lewis and Clark didn't carry the type of rifle they refer to, but carried one made by a German watch and clock maker in Penn. The fantasy that it was the air rifle that kept the Indians from attacking, is also sheer fantasy. Do some serious research into the actual aier rifle used by Lewis and Clark, read the L & C Journals, and learn the truth.
