Ackley Improved UserBEST Air Rifle for COMBINED HUNTING and TARGET.
In your opinion (money is no object) what air rifle would you buy to give the best of target shooting and hunting? Where would you buy it?

Dr. MikeI have had several airguns and am down to my R10 in 22 cal and my R9 in 20 cal. Both are fully tuned and extremely accurate. Next to my 10-22 in montana, the R10 has taken more critters than any other rifle... year round. One of my best friends does airgun repair and has a full time pest control business, including the soon to be released "Death in the Potatoe Chip Isle." He does rodent control in walmart, lowe's and Kroger... His rifle of choice.... The Beeman R9 in .177, with the Leupold 3x9 EFR. There is probably more accurate rifels out there, but we have shot sub MOA at 100 yards with all of them. Just cock and shoot. I leave a pellet in the chamber and its ready to go.

Idaho SharpshooterI just got an AirForce Condor PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) and fitted it with a Nikko-Sterling Nighteater (illuminated reticle...they lurk in trees you know) 6-24x56mm. Awesome scope. Read their catalog and they offer a 10-50X scope!!
Has to be the ultimate and $844 retail!

LittlbigdI dont know about the money isnt an onject part but I own four high power pellet guns: the RWS 45, the RWS 54, A Theoban Crow Magnum and some other RWS (I forget).
What I have noticed is that the magnum power pellet guns such as the 54 and the Theoban are trading off power for some accuracy and they are VERY particular about which pellet they shoot.
The RWS 45 is less powerful, I believe it is around 900fps with a .177, which is still more then adequate for squirrels, rabbits, birds and rats - but is has incredible accuracy. You can shoot hole in hole with this gun. When I was a kid I would shoot flower stems with the RWS 45 - that is how accurate it is.
My vote for the accuracy/power trade off is the RWS 45.

claybusterI second the airforce mention. I have a talon, with a 12" and 24" barrel in .22 cal. Wickedly accurate with either barrel.I chose the talon because it best matched my H-Bars in configuration, mounted a 6.5-24x50AO scope on it and you can watch the shots hit the target,,really neat. My springers have been collecting dust since I acquired the talon, one of them being a R-9,,which is also wickedly accurate, and, powerful,,,but,,,,The pcp is such a joy to shoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't seem to put it down

Have fun! Clay

The SpecialistI hear the Daystate MK4 is out.
If you haven't used a top Daystate like the Air Wolf or MK3, you have no conception of what an airgun can be.
I don't rate the cheaper Daystates at all, Air Arms piss on em. But the High end Daystates are in a league of their own.
Forget Styers, Air Arms Evos and ALL THE REST. If money really is no object then it has to be a Daystate, with a scope to do it justice.
The only criticism of the MK3 is it's a bit heavy for my taste, and they have had failures when they get really SOAKED in the rain, but I've been told that has been sorted with better water proofing of the electrics.

ok i have had hte best luck with the gamo big cat1200 it was $250 but i is an awsome gun. the pellets that are lead go 1000 fps. and with the pba ammo the pettel goes 1200 fps

sierra2Gee, guys, you make me feel inferior after years and years of using a Diana 75 match rifle for squirrel and pigeon control.

im_paid_to_killso what's everyones take on the Tech Force guns? i'm told by those that sell them it's the best bang for your buck. i'm a pest control technician and my company is gonna buy an air rifle based on my recommendation. pigeons is the main quarry to be taken with the gun.leaning towards a 22 mod99. any opinions?

The SpecialistI wouldn't waste money on a Chinese gun.
Spend more and get something decent.

Dr.KI would agree with Leeboy . Air Arms is one of my best Air Rifles .
Providing the wind in no more than 12 MPH .
Everything inside of a dime at 50-60 Yd. With JSB Diabolo's it's some times difficult to ensure all pellets passed through the target . They make one hole !!!!!!.
