Cleaning Barrel Ports
Hi All, just wondered if you clean the ports in your ported barrels and how you do it? Thanks.

I have no ported shotguns but once a year or so I clean the ports in my 500 Linebaugh with slovent and a dental pick. There is usually quite a bit of lead and/or jacket material accumulation to be removed.

Thanks for the reply Tiggertate. The gun I'm cleaning is a ported Marlin 444P. Didn't know if anyone made small brusses or anything for this purpose?

I had an ultralight 38special that was ported, I used pipe cleaners, they work great. put a little blue wonder on one and run it through there.

You could also go to a welding supply shop and buy a torch-tip cleaner. They have various diameter ribbed rods mounted together like a multi-sized folding allen wrench set to clean slag from bronze torch tips without gouging the holes larger. Very smooth ribs that don't cut. Can't cost more than 5 bucks.
