drewhenrytntHELP I have a rust problem
This is rather embarrassing because I tend to be a bit anal about how I prevent rust on my firearms. So you can imagine my horror when I reached for my "goto" gun this evening and saw the red rust on the muzzle and in the bore. Last time I cleaned it I swabbed it with RustProof or so I thought. Is it possible to get rid of the rust permanently or is my favorite rifle fucked?

drewhenrytntI'll add that no other firearm in my safe has any rust anywhere that I can see.

LabmanIf it's only light rust in the bore and on the muzzle I think you should be OK. Clean it up real good and look for any pitting. If there is no pitting you should be good to go. Of course, you won't know for sure until you shoot it.

+1 OR Breakfree. There are many tests on the web comparing various products - basically spraying slat solution on steel that has been treated with the product. Eezox & Breakfree are the only ones which were rust free after 45 days of this torture test.
Try bronze wool and some Breakfree and see if it comes off. Maybe you caught it in time.
