I just purchased a bottle of this. It was on sale so I figued what the heck. It has enough amoinia to knock you over when you open the bottle.

How does this work as a cleaner? Any good or bad experiences? TVC15

Watch out for the mega ammonia cleaners! They can cause rust. You may be able to cut it with Kroil to make it rust proof but I will never use that type. thumbdown

I've got a bottle of the MT Ext 50 BMG special formula, super strength copper remover and it will get the copper out faster than Sweets or Cr10. After using it I run a couple patches of powder solvent down the barrel, then a couple dry patches and finally lightly oil before putting the gun up. Pretty agressive stuff.

So it works good on copper, but how does it work on moly?

Well it is a copper remover and it does what it's supposed to do, remove copper fouling, they make no claims about moly on the bottle. I have only used moly coated bullets since mid 1980's, and only in certain guns, but never have had any of the moly problems often encountered on the web. My moly shooting guns are cleaned the same way my others are, every now and again a little scrubbing with JB's after the usual routine has always kept them shooting just fine, but I don't have a very vivid imagination.

STINGS FINGERS

Montana Extreme--I bought a bottle recently to clean at the range for a break in and I must have had some skin cracks because it stings. Hoppe's 9 was soothing.

I will try to get some pH paper to check it out.

Well they sure smell different, but I can't see that The Montana Extreme works any better than #9.

I have used montana extreme for over 2 years. It works better than any of the other copper solvents. You can leave it in the baarrel overnight without any damage. Use in a very well ventilated area nasty stuff. Use rubber gloves.

Personally I wouldn't leave it in the barrel that long. Quote from directions on the bottle"...let stand 5-10 minutes"

i learned the hard way about leaving solvent containing ammonia in a barrel to long. ruined a good shooting chrome moly barrel leaving sweets in it for 6 hrs. accidentaly. i got side tracked and forgot about it.

I've had great luck with it over the last few years. I don't leave it soak in my barrels but they state it is completely barrel safe. I still wouldn't let it soak but it works really well for me.
