and toothpaste
Which toothpaste? Some of them have a fine abrasive - those are the ones I'm interested in. Does the toothpaste have any tendency to cause corrosion, being water soluble?
Aren't oven cleaners caustic? (Not that it will attack steel but just wondering what precausions one has to take).
I have found cutting fluid (very similar to kroil, I would think) and cotton balls. The cotton balls compact nicely and get into the grooves and remove lead flakes. It is real easy to use - not wrapping around a jag. Just push the right sized ball with the oil on it into the breach and ram it until it enters the bore then push it down.
