My first trip to africa with Terry Anders Forever African Safaris

tx308My first trip to africa with Terry Anders Forever African Safaris
I booked this hunt a few years ago at the DSC show. This was the third hunt I have booked through Mark Young. This hunt was initially booked to be done at Savuli, but as you guys know it was taken over. One of the best parts about the hunt was that I was able to take my dad along for the trip. We left dallas Sept. 9th, and got home Sept 29th
We ended up hunting at Massapas, Matetsi River, and another place near the airport in Vic Falls. We saw buffalo on multiple occasions, but were unable to close the deal until late in the hunt.
I flew through London, and used Gracy Travel. There were no issues coming or going.
Some lessons I learned from my first trip:
-Buy more makers mark at the duty free
-take the direct flight to jnb and get the worst part of the trip over with.
The night I killed the buffalo I bought some scuds for the crew. It wasn't the worst thing I have ever tried, but I am certain that I couldn't make a habit of drinking them all the time
I took this pic on the way to the Hwanke Lodge. He was sitting about 30 yds off the side of the road
I think this wildebeest took about 6 bullets. The first shot was in the center of the chest

MJinesSome times you can just tell from the pictures that are posted whether someone was having a great time. Your pictures tell that story. Well done, congratulations!

Incredible luck to see a lion on a kill in a hunting area!

Hey, I LIKE burnt steaks!
That is what human beings eat, nit half cooked meat as if regurgitated by a vulture!

silkyoaksYep, never shoot a wildebeast in the centre of the chest. Their sternum is like the bow of the Titanic.
Congratulations on a great hunt.

Great trophies and a particularly handsome zebra stallion.
Silkyoaks,
Hmmm, like the bow of the Titanic? So it caves in at first touch?

tx308Thanks for the advice on the wildebeest. I think I may have to break the news to the wife that after this year the kids wont be going to private school anymore.

CharlesLThanks for sharing. It looks like you had a good time and I have a feeling it may not be your last trip.

I noticed that you connected through London. Did you borrow a rifle or were you able to take one with you? I flew with American and they would not transport guns through London.

tx308I used shawn at gracy travel. She handled the gun paperwork through London. I got to dfw early and helped walk the agent through the gun process. It was both of ours first time, and we got it done. I checked the guns all the way through in Bullawayo. Had to pay the handling fee at the gate in London.

CharlesLThanks. That is interesting. I can take rifles if I fly both legs with BA, but not if one leg is with AA. If I get a chance to go back I will have to look into that. I make the trips on airline miles or otherwise I would be looking at Delta through Atlanta.
