The hunt was with www.kambakosafaris.com of Niassa Reserve block B northern Mozambique for Duggerboy's, old Lion and select plains game.
I was fortunate to hunt with Kambako in October 07 and had luck with Buffalo and Eland then.
This trip consisted of Business and pleasure and took place from mid June to the 22nd of Aug.
I used a Blaser R93 in 9.3X62 with 300grn Swift A Frames and 286grn Woodleighs Softs and FMJ's.

Kambako Safaris are in the process of upgrading their infrastructure, in particular their main camp with all the modern amenity's such as swimming pool, air conditioned rooms, Internet connection and even a TV .
However, if one wants more rustic accommodation's, they also have two light fixed camps plus the option to "camp out" (a great option if you have the time).
Conditions were quite dry this season and although June is quite early for this part of Africa, the clearing fires were in full swing.
Within the Combretum bush (Jesse) where the buff spend a lot of their time, the leaves had already fallen but where quite thick and noisy under foot.
By mid July the leaves and foliage had been flattened or broke down enough for good visibility and quiet stalking but by then the winds become a little less consistent. Theirs always something to spoil a stalk..
By mid July the temperature is climbing with daytime temps in the mid 30"c. This is quite fine for hunting and the early morning hours where quite cold.
In this area Buffalo hunting would be ideal in July, August and September with hunting in October OK if you can handle the heat.
The country is mainly Miombo woodland with areas of Jesse thickets, Bamboo, open flays and Riverine forest.
Shots would seldom strech over 150yrds and with lots of fine branches and grass, the use of a light weight rifle in 40cal (416 - 404 type) with a low powered scope would be close to ideal.

What an adventure - congrats!

I hunted Moz for the entire month of October last year -- also along the Lugende, but in Block L2 (Johan Calitz concession) --

It was a truly fantastic experience! A rare opportunity to hunt truly wild African lands that are gone forever in so much of Africa.

I didn't do 60 days, but it was only because I hadn't been there before -- I sure wasn't ready to leave after a month.

Great report -- I enjoyed it thoroughly.

60 days would be great, but when I got home, it would be divorce, second mortgage, failed business, dog ran away, etc.

Hope that I can take a two month safari when I grow up.

Adam 60 days of hunting in Niassa reserve sounds wonderful, however, your pictures equates more to a 10 days 2 Buff hunt in Selous. Come on mate, don't be so miser in sharing your great adventure.

As much as I would of loved it, I wasn't able to hunt for the full duration of the trip, but I did enjoy every day.

Wow 60 days with Kambako. I spent 21 days last July with them in one of their fly camps.I bought the Safari at the SCI auction in 08. My first DG Safari, second trip to Africa. It went by way to fast.The buffalo Stu put me on charged after being hit well the first time. Stu Taylor was my PH also. It was a fantastic adventure. I got everything on my list. I was not ready to go back home. Check out my testimonial on their web site for those who are in the search for a great destination.I like so many others contracted a terminal disease only partially cured by returning to the continent. So i am off in Oct to Zimbabwe hunting with Senuko in the Save for lion. I am new to this. I will try and learn how to post pictures and report on the hunt.

Yeah without those little mounds of dirt those tusks would only be like, as tall as those guys. Unless they are both also midgets I think you are being cynical.

Yes, and the guys aren't monsters , but they are big Tusks in any case.
Left ones in the 70lbs mark and right pair over 80lbs if I remember correctly.

No but their pilot told me he saw two way over 70lbs whilst landing the day before my return trip to Pemba.
The www.kambakosafaris.com guys have seen bulls around the 100lbs mark and feel it only time before they take one.
Maybe towards the end of the season as they have a couple big Ele Safaris lined up.

Some great trophies for sure. A long safari is an incredible experience. Just being in the bush is wonderful. I've not stayed 60 but I have stayed 40 days and you just get to relax and really get into the swing of the safari. It's kind of like the best job you ever had.
