Jungli BainsSafari at Leopard Lodge Okanjanga, Namibia
I made my first safari at Leopard Lodge in Namibia. My non-hunting wife and I spent eleven days there and it was one the best experiences of our lives. The staff was attentive to our needs and made us very comfortable. The PH was Klaus Tietz he is a stickler for ethics; no shooting from the vehicle, all stalking was on foot.
The property is about 17,000 acres, hilly, with numerous kopjes and generally covered with thorn bush. The animals available for hunting consisted of eland, kudu, oryx, red hartebeeste, Hartmann's zebra, springbok, stienbok, wildebeeste, warthog, leopard, cheetah;etc. Waterbuck and possibly bushbuck will be available soon.
I took a fine gemsbok after a 2 1/2 hour stalk. A 56" greater kudu. Red Hartebeeste and springbok rounded out the rest of my bag. I wanted a warthog, we saw many, but nothing I wanted. We liked it so well that I left them a deposit for next March. I saw a huge eland bull and a large number of kudu bulls that make it impossible not to go back.
