Omujeve hunting safaris, Namibia 2016-11
Plains game hunting in Namibia, Omujeve safaris.

Date:2016-10-31 -- 2016-11-07.
Area: Schonbrunn, south of Windhoek and Omujeve main camp, north of Windhoek.
Hunters: Me and 2 friends from Sweden.
Rifle: Husqvarna 1900, customized by P-O Stenmark.
Caliber: .30/06.
Bullet: Swift Scirocco II 180 grains.
Outfitter: Omujeve hunting safaris.
PH: Ockert Bamm and Petjo Rusberg.

We started to hunt a couple of days at Schonbrunn, 4 hours drive south of Windhoek and after that we hunted a couple of days at the maincamp north of Windhoek.
The areas was very nice and so was the camps, more open land at Schonbrunn and more difficult to stalk.

Both PH:s was very skilled and we had a great time together. I was very (!) impressed by the tracking that Ockert and his dog Bushman did on the Springbok that I took. The shoot was taken at a distance of >200 meters and it was blowing a lot and maybe I was not perfectly steady on the sticks, however the shoot hit in the stomach and the Springbok ran away. We tracked it over a long time, lost the track a lot of times and could not find it the first day after 2 hours of tracking, it became dark and the dog was getting tired. We got back the morning after and started tracking again and found the Springbok after roughly 1 hour. As said, I was very impressed after that PH-work and dog work!

My main goal was Blue Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, Oryx, Hartmanns Zebra and Baboon and maybe something more. I did get a Hartmanns Zebra, Black Wildebeest, Oryx, Steenbok, Blue Wildebeest, Eland and a Springbok.

I only post pictures of my own animals, more was taken by my friends of course.

Regards from North of Sweden.

Hartmanns Zebra.

Well done! Great trophies!

Namibia is such a great country for low pressure plains game hunts. Especially from Europe.

Congrats on a fine safari and welcome to AR!!!

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

Charlie64:
No Warthog, I had a quick stalk on 2 Warthogs that looked very nice, but they just ran away and me and the PH just ran after, but they disappeared.

Some nice trophies there and excellent photography. Much nicer than my own photos of Namibia.
Nice walnut on that rifle too.

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.
