Outstanding report and pictures, Darin. You're only 1 year older than me, and I intend on hunting Africa as long as my legs keep working. I even had knee surgery this June to prepare for my 2015 Namibia hunt. I'm fortunate that I have a large supply of tall, athletic grandchildren who have expressed an interest in going to Africa with me. My ten year old granddaughter is already an accomplished archer. She's also a better athlete than her brothers and male cousins, being an MVP in three sports (basketball, volleyball and cross country).

Andrew & Goldeneye;

I didn't answer because I couldn't remember the name (a sign of old age for sure)! However, I know they were all the same kind, which is unusual for such a long time in the bush, and they were South African.

If you could give me some options, it might help me remember!!!

Best regards, Darin

Dear Darren.

Sorry to but in here, but seeing I'm somewhat tarred with the same brush (liking bubbles), I'll suggest the following:

J.C. Le Roux ( a pear shaped bottle )
Graham Beck ( standard Champagne bottle )

From one Dane to another.

Kind regards

Jytte

Congratulations on a fine safari life Mr. & Mrs. Nelson - yours is a true and tested safari, but never say never! There is always another sunrise and sunset to be enjoyed on the African Horizon.

Thanks for sharing your adventures, motivating us in the field and putting perspective on a reality we all share - we must do it all while we can. It is a good trait that hunters, always can! Cheers to you Mama Africa! Wishing you many more African Skies to enjoy...

I have read a lot of reports, but I find that one to be special amongst them.
Your attitude to the whole thing should be an example to all.
Well done and I do hope that you manage at least one moe safari.

To JCOOK, Shallom, R. Jolly & Aaron Neilson;

Thank you for your very, very kind words.

Last night I read my hunt report to my husband for the first time. I thought he was going to cry! He too appreciated all the kind words for my fellow AR Forum members!

Thanks, Darin

Darin,

Could you compile a report of all your African hunting and favourite pics for us to savour?

Now that you have all this time on your hands.

Best

Andrew

Hi Darin and Bob!

Just back from a hunt to see your wonderful heartfelt report Darin. Just like to say what a pleasure it was dealing with you through a tough period when we did not know what was going on with Hammond. Your words " dont stress this is Africa and we can handle a few hic-ups!)summed up your guys great attitude!

Congrats on an awesome hunt and I knew that you guys would get along well with Butch he is a super and great Ph! As to your comment about been your last safari- if so look back and celebrate a most amazing hunting "career" as that is almost what it was with you guys having done so many great hunts! Also the fact that you shared it together- that is very special as in most cases partners seldomly both hunt! I secretly hope though that there will be a few more Darin!!!

Apologies for the 2 missing bottle of champagne but if we find time at the shows I will happily make up the numbers!!!!! Thanks once again Darin for been a very understanding positive huntress- your two awesome buff were well deserved!! See you at the shows- all the best Buzz

Darin,
Congratulations on a great hunt and a wonderful, and thought provoking, report. We all know that, as much as we would like to think otherwise, all that we enjoy and experience must end. We have been privileged to have had you share your enjoyment and experiences with us. I have enjoyed reading your reports and will miss them. Hopefully in the years to come your declaration of your last hunt will prove to be premature. If not, you and your Husband have wonderful memories and stories to tell.
By the way, I have brazenly stolen your description of the Okavango Delta, " where God lives", as it describes the Delta better than any that I have ever heard.

TerryR;

You are welcome to the Okavango description...it seems to be the only one that really describles the Delta.

And thank you very much for the kind words too! This AR Family is the best!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us Darin. I enjoyed reading it immensely.

And based on the pictures you posted - you didn't grow a day older between your first buffalo and your last.
