eyedocIn Zimbanbwe I hunted with both Mush and Kim Nichols (Roger WHITTALL Safaris) and found both to be hard working, knowledgeable hunters who were pleasant to be around both in the field and the campfire.
In Namibia I would reccommend Antonie Louw of Makalaan Safaris.Very pleasant and accommodating, good hunter ,chef, and woodsman. Also just a pleasant fellow to spend time with.Have three weeks scheduled with him this August,my third such trip with him.
We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!

<allen day>Of the Zimbabwe PHs, I have no hesitation is stating that John Sharp is fabulous.
We're hunting with Roger Whitall in Humani next season, and I have no doubt he has a fine staff of PHs, at least based on the reports i've heard thus far.....

JPKI have only hunted with Richard Tabor and that was in Zim. Good, diligent, quiet but fun. Loves to hunt. Flexible too.
I have met, and found to be good fellows Guy Whittall, Peter Wood and Thiery LaBatt. All four of these guys work for Roger Whittall.

LJSPlease be open minded when you read these posts. Do your own investigation and ask a lot of questions before making your decision. Don't just accept these as good because they're posted here. I hunted with a PH recommended here and he was not someone I would recommend even though we were sucessful. If you can go to Dallas or Reno, talk to the companies, ask for recent references, and call those people. With your safari companies try to pin down who your PH will be. There are many freelance PHs who are available as fill ins to various outfitters as needed. Inquire about your PH much the same as the outfitter. Ask the tough questions up front and often you can head off a problem.

Care to enlighten us a little? I'd hate to think I was about to plunk down my money with someone the outfitter likes, and got a good review here, but he's the one YOU had a problem with.
Referrals are nice, but when I give out referrals for my business, I only use the names of my really happy clients.
