fairgame51 plus inch Zambian Buff
De Bruin Nieaber (who apprenticed under me) recently took this massive Buffalo out of a bachelor herd in Musulangu North Luangwa. Interestingly, it was only a stone's throw from where Tim Herald took his 52-inch buff a few seasons back. Here there be monsters.

I would estimate not far off ten years looking at the ragged ears and hairless body. I took some outstanding Buffalo from this concession; the buffalo are monstrous in body and horn.

Michael RobinsonAmazing buffalo!
Anything over 42 inches in width is remarkable these days.
What a beast!

NakihunterGreat bull. Why are the horn tips still so sharp, unlike those from Zimbabwe?
Just asking.

A youngish animal would first come to mind.

Genetics plays a role in size of spread but because it is 40 or 45 does not necessarily mean it is old; certainly not a milking calf but not in the dagga boy class.
My widest "career buffalo" was 49" with not so pointed tips though slightly soft on the forehead but with a spread like that, I didn't think twice.

I agree and the buff is mature but not old but would be difficult to pass up with a client. The area is renowned for its bachelor herds and the quality is consistent.

lavacaThat's a fantastic bull and I don't want to take anything from the hunter, but I think we all know Fulvio is right. I shot a young bull in 2012 that I shouldn't have, not nearly this big. It's easy to do.

Michael RobinsonI'm pretty sure I would’ve let my PH talk me into shooting this one.

A Hairless body and tatty ears make for a good mature animal.

AtkinsonHe isnt a young bull, Id call him mature He is not soft, he is rubbed, his body and scarred head,Roman nose hump. tell me he is old, I bet his teeth show age..His only fault is flat spread and that's gene pool, I would have shot him in a heart beat, and I don't shoot soft bulls!
