Zimbabwe Elephant Hunt 2014

MuletrainZimbabwe Elephant Hunt 2014
Hunted this elephant in Northern Zimbabwe in October 2014.
Details - It was around noon. The bull was in thick vegetation with six other bulls. He was in deep shade quartering away.
The PH suggested a behind the ear brain shot. I have only done a frontal brain shot and a heart/lung shot and was not prepared for a brain shot from the rear.
We approached to within about 25 yards and could not get closer or maneuver for a side brain shot without risking being seen or winded.
So I took a heart/lung shot. The PH did not shoot. He (the elephant) went a few yards and fell over.
Winchester Mod 70 LH in .375 H&H loaded with Hornady 300 grain solids.
After the hunt we toured the Motopos Hills area. After several trips to Zimbabwe this was the only part of the country that I have not seen.

Memories Mr Jines.
I applaud all those who support the hunting industry in Zimbabwe and continue to hunt trophy bulls.
The .375 proves itself yet again.
Well done.

I am headed over in February for a trophy bull hunt. I have done a little homework on replica tusks and have talked to Taxidermy Africa in South Africa but would love to hear what others have found out.

shotgun46Nice job goes to show if you know how to shoot the 375HH will do the job every time. If you cannot no caliber no mater how big will help More about the shooter than the caliber. Shot my elephant with 375 HH the heart lung area went 50 yards and doped.

bwanamrmWell done and personally I love the caliber!
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
