<mikeh416Rigby>I haven't used their services, but I know John Wooters has used them for years.

Hawkeye47I havn't used him but Jon Sundra of Rifleman Mag.
hunts with him a lot. I figure if John Wooters and Jon Sundra use him he must be doing something right.

shakariBob,
I've never heard of him, so I can't help you much. However there is no such thing as a limited company in SA. Here it's called a CC.
Assuming the company is located in SA you could check credentials through the Professional Hunters Assoc. (PHASA) their e-mail address is phasa@pixie.co.za.

Borealis BobShakari..
I didn't make it very clear that this is the U.S. agent. Only other identifying information I have so far is that the place they book at is called Wintershoek Wild.
Mr. Merzig, it turns out, lives "up the road" from me about twenty miles, so I am at least somewhat interested in pursuing discussions with someone I have already met face-to-face, albeit briefly.

shakariHi Bob,
Sorry about that, I misunderstood. If you mean Kimberley in South Africa it's not the best area of SA to hunt, but I guess it's OK. However be very sure indeed of what you're getting for your money and I strongly advise against any DG hunting there......... especially Lion, as the area has a reputation for cans!
Please don't think I'm trying to blacken the whole area, I'm not. It's just that I was "taught to be cautious" in these matters. I personally never hunt any dangerous game whatsoever in SA anymore.
Cheers

Borealis BobThanks for the replies.
Yes, I don't recall seeing many reports of hunts in this area...must be a reason for that.
I don't get any bad "vibes" about Paul Merzig. But I'm not sure about the setup; almost looks too "plush" to me based on addtional information he sent. Perhaps better suited to a particular type of clientele.

Terry BlauwkampWe hunted near Kimberley a few years ago, and had fine time.
We are flying into Kimberley again in 2 weeks, and will then drive up to Kuruman about 3 hours NW.
Reports from folks that were there last year, claimed a lot of game available.

I was working for Kiboko Hunting Safaris during a summer and met Paul (who, as stated above was with John Sundra). He is a great guy and I'd see what he has to say, and as well ask for some references as they usually have. Granted, I have in no way used any of his services but have heard good things about him from time to time. Good luck.
Good hunting.
