I flew from Atlanta Ga. to Johannesburg. Spent the night at the Afton Guest House. I sent my gun info a month before. One of their people met me at the South African Police Office at the airport with my transit permit for the rifle. The next day flew on to Windhoek and met Gert at the airport. After a short drive we were at Gert's first hunt concession. We checked my scope and went hunting.
After a long stalk on hand and knees over rocks and nearly getting busted by a curious giraffe, I got a shot at this Kudu.

A Springbok in the Spritzkoff area.

It was a excellent trip. I walked off some pounds but the food was so good, and so much of it, i put them right back on at dinner. I will be hunting with Gert again, maybe as soon as next summer. (and training for a marathon so I can keep up!)

AB Joint OutfittersCongratulations! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip.
The photos aren't showing up properly for me...is anyone else having that problem?

That's a nice Kudu!
Those Namibian guys can walk you into the ground, Hmmm? And don't try to run with them, I watched my PH last year, absolutely wear out another guys tracker in SA, he wasn't moving fast enough, so he started running on the track... for about 45 minutes, non stop. I couldn't keep up, got back on the truck and caught up!
Sorry for the sidetrack, what did the kudu tape out at?

JrileyBrian,
I'm really impressed (and a little envious) of your trophies. I think a kudu that big deserves a pedestal mount.

Rick O'ShayCongratulations! Looks like a great hunt. Funny enough, My buddy and I hunted with Gert and also Arno Schultz the week before you, at Wabi lodge by the Waterberg Plateau. I've been meaning to post a report as well but haven't gotten around to it yet.
I'm thinking of booking a DG hunt with Gert for next year or the one after.
Is that Waterberg plateau in the background of the picture where you mentioned spotting the Gemsbok?

Just got back from a 14 day leopard hunt with Gert and Kristoff...took the cat on the fourth day and then did the Swakop/Ruppell/Wabi tour with a few days up by Etosha looking for a problem lion.
I would recommend Gert to anyone wanting a great cat hunt!
