Fallow BuckThanks guys,
The rifle is now my prized possession. I mentioned on the board before I left that I was having some trouble with accuracy but a freind and his reoading press sorted that problem out for me. The result is a gun I have never had so much confidence in.
The Eland was something really special under the circumstances. Although Mr Murphy was in Africa with me that day, the follow up was the singularly most exciting bit of hunting I have ever been involved in.
The PH described it "As close to buffalo hunting without the Buffallo!!" No prizes for guessing what my next trip is for...
Anyway I'll copy the report over tonight and post the rest of the pictures.

AndersThat`s a good looking bull and rifle! Were did you take this eland?

Thanks for sharing!
06 October 2005, 20:46
Fallow BuckAnders,
The eland was taken a a Ranch called Seditse. I think it is also known as Reehbok Fontain (sp?)
I've already decided to go back. I've written the full hunt report but just don't seem to have time to post with the piccies.
Charger, Nice eland!!

Riodotback to the Eland Thread - I think that is one of the classiest hunt photos I have ever seen.
And I'm not just saying that because Eland is my favorite African antelope.
Great Animal !!

30ott6Here's mine from last year. I really like your photo Fallow Buck!!

Nice animal and I reckon it would look even nicer with a bit of cropping on photoshop.... I'd be happy to play around with it if you like - but won't do it withot your permission....
Here's a link to the TZ page of my website....
http://www.kuduland.com/hunting-in-tanzania.htm - scroll down to the bottom and you'll find an Eland we took in the Selous a couple of years ago..... had the client entered it, the animal would be #4 I Rowland Ward and #1 SCI.

30ott6Shakari- Thanks for the offer! By all means please Photoshop it! I don't know how to do that stuff and would be interested in seeing the difference. Thanks!
John
06 February 2006, 22:44
shakariI've only played with it for a minute or two and could do better with time - but what do you think of the first (quick) attempt?
All I've done is a quick crop and a little colour enhancement but I think the horn focus needs a bit more work.....
06 February 2006, 22:46
shakariLooks to me like it needed a better depth of field so that both hunter and animal were both in focus...... if you'd like to e-mail me a few more pics I'll be happy to try to improve on it a little.....
07 February 2006, 00:29
30ott6That looks much better although I agree with you about the horns. That's the only pic I have that's loaded on Photobucket. I appreciate you spending your time being the photo doctor!!

shakariIf you have other pics on your PC just e-mail them to me at shakari@mweb.co.za and I'll try to spend a bit more time on them and then e-mail them back to you....... Photoshop is a great programme, albeit bloody expensive and with a little practice you can do pretty much anything with it. My wife is a real fundi on it and has just changed some Elephant photo's from colour to sepia and they're to die for.....

martinbnsFallowBuck,
I read the detailed report, great pics. sounds like you had a great trip(after the initial flight delay). what calibre and model of rifle were you shooting?
07 February 2006, 13:42
Fallow BuckMartin,
Yes the trip was great. I also returned the favour when Dennie the PH came over here for a week I took him out stalking for Fallow on my lease: It's not muchin the trophy department but he did manage to get the record for the shortest time in the stand... It was under 2minutes before the deer came out!!
I plan to go back some time but wil probably go to Tanzania for a Buff and Lesser Kudu, although there are a few things I want to do closer to home first.
The Rifle is a Sauer 202 Avantegarde Gold in 308Win. I was shooting 168grain Barnes TSX handloads, (by a freind so I don't have the techie details). The scope is a Swaro, 3-12x50 with illuminated reticule.
