Congrats!

HarrisVery good report. That is probably the best looking matching pair of ivory I have ever seen.
Your Sable and duiker are also great looking.

You can get buffalo, kudu, croc, hippo and other smaller pg species. BUT if your focus is Ele, then the rest are to be considered trophies of opportunity.

Very true Bawana, in addition there is also Waterbuck in good number but the trophy quality and body size is not great. There is also good Leopard, Impala and bushpig.

Jeff, you may want to ask that to Michel Mantheakis, owner of Miombo. I don't think he posts here but you can email him.

That is great, congratulations. He is as good as it gets in Selous these days. If he is the one that I saw, he must have quite a bit black mane on his front, will appreciate some more photos of him. Was he still feeding on wildebeast in the airstrip area? Who was your PH?

svaneknopPH Haydar Gulam and I arrived in Miombos R3 camp by the Ruaha River after a long days drive from Dar Es Salam. We saw big Lion tracks already the first morning just after we passed thru the last dried out creek before the airstrip.
After some negotiations with Nicole Mantheakis at Miombos Dar Es Salam office (I only had a 10 days license and intended to shoot buffalo) we started bating. We baited 3 places from 1 to 4 miles from the airstrip.
I shot him in the morning of the 10th at the bait closest to and east of the airstrip.

Ace HunterThat indeed is a good old lion.
Ahmed, in addition to the animals you mentioned, can Lion be also hunted from the same area with good chances?

This lion was shot in R3 Selous. The population of lions there was not that great, I only saw one male but I only stayed 3 days.
Lukwika is also not considered to be a good lion hunting destination.

lavacaAbsolutely marvelous. Just to let folks know, Michel Mantheakis keeps a pretty low profile -- it's just his nature. However, he is a great PH and great to deal with.
It is my understanding that he is no longer associated with Miombo. His new contact information is:
