8 Bore Safari
8 Bore Safari

Hunting in very thick lush green cover. Left to right, Johan Hermann, myself and Jeff Smith.

He was bull number 27 on day four.

He was a great old warrior who fought to the end.

I am very proud of these.

My best shot, brained at 35 m, I was very pleased, my PH Johan Hermann of Rigby Big Game Safaris is beside me.

More details to follow.

Fantastic!!

I've taken all of the dangerous seven with a handgun and am now working on doing it all again with an open-sighted double rifle -- but to do it with a classic 8 Bore -- now, THAT's an accomplishment!

I'll have to put it on my "to do" list.

When you get bored with life, start hunting dangerous game with a handgun.

John,

Fantastic animals but need more details.

Where was the hunt and can you tell us more about the 8 bore vs. the Elephant. How far was the shot and where did you hit him?

John: Simply splendid stuff. Boy you earned those smiles! Can you tell us what bullet you were using, and were you shooting black powder or smokeless?
That's a really lovely buff, and the ivory is gorgeous.

PH Johan Hermann and cameraman Chris Esterhuizen. I had a DVD filmed by Chris of my hunt in 2010, he did an excellent job, so good that I hired Chris again this year and the Safari with the 8 Bore will result in a DVD that should be very entertaining.

If anyone is thinking of having a DVD made of their African Hunt I would highly recommend you contact Chris Esterhuizen he can be reached at [chrisvidcam@gmail.com] his filming is very professional and he is very experienced in the bush.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

John, aren't you wrong-handed to be using that Manton with the cheekpiece? You should unload it to me for a steal!
