Sitatunga in Zambia-Picture hunt report.

Pir_DanishThe Shiwa Ngandu Manor house, an English country house in middle of the African bush.
After Sir Stweart's death the estate was managed by one of his daughters, Lorna, and her husband John Harvey. They had four children, who grew up at the estate. They were filmed by the British Broadcasting Corporation travelogue series Pole to Pole in 1991, which included actor Michael Palin's visit to the estate. But only six months later in 1992, Lorna and John Harvey were murdered at Shiwa Ngandu by three men who were caught and convicted. They were ANC members living in exile in Zambia. The ANC disavowed any prior knowledge and condemned the murders, and although some property was stolen, possible motives remain speculative.
Now John Harvey's son Charles Harvey lives here with his family, he is a gentleman, one of the old school and well reputable Zambian Professional hunter.

Pir_Danisha Beautiful Bushbuck.
I shot this Blue Duiker at first light, was very hard to hunt them with a rifle as they hardly gave you much chance to take the shot.
a good Puku taken by the madam.
First Lechwe.
Second Lechwe.

Pir_Danish The Sitatungaevery morning would start by Charlie and myself sitting in a blind in middle of the reeds in knee length water before the sun came up. and every evening we would be back in the different blinds to see if we can spot a good Sitatunga at the last light.
on Day 4 we were sitting in the blind in the evening, we waited and glassed around but saw some females and young ones. It was almost dark when all of a sudden as if by magic i saw two horns rising from the reeds where until now there was nothing (the Sitatunga must have been laying low) he got up, i did not ask Charlie if he was big or average, i just asked him if he was mature enough to take. Charlie said yes and i had my Sitatunga.
by the time the boys brought him out it was completely dark. we took a few photos at night but they didn't turn out so good, so we placed him in a sitting position and took some nice photos the next morning.

bwanamrmVery nice sitatunga!

MJinesGreat report with some fabulous trophies. You have had a great 2016 for sure. I miss the cigar pics though.
I would encourage anyone who has not read The Africa House, to pick up a copy. It is a very good read about how a little piece of paradise was carved out of the wildness.
