TrophymanSA Plains Game with Neil Barnard of NB Safaris
My first safari and it was awesome !! Neil Barnard is the consummate professional. He was very attentive to my questions. His respect for the game and the land was extraordinary. He put me on many animals but was very picky that I got the biggest trophies there were. I took Warthog, Kudu, Wildebeest, Zebra, Gemsbok, Impala, Blesbuck. All very good animals. The accomodations were first class and the food was prepared by an on-staff gourmet chef-- Laura. The lodge and grounds were fantastic. 4 star or higher. I had certain expectations from reading all the posts here and talking with guys who have been to Africa. ALL my expectations were exceeded. I had a great time and one thing you guys warned me about-- I gotta go back!!
Neil's website is
www.nbsafaris.co.za if you want to look around.
Thanks for all your help in my pre-planning. You guys were spot-on.
I have seven pics, but I'm not able to attach them. I can hunt, but this stuff drives me crazy !!!

Bill CCongratulations Randy on your first trip! Email me the pictures at
bill@wyodata.com and I'll be happy to post them for you.
Did you hunt under a package, or was it an auction hunt perhaps? Maybe I am out of touch with the SA game prices...but these are quite a bit higher then any I have seen.

TrophymanBill C.,
I bought the hunt at a Friends of the NRA dinner. Paid for the trophy fees and taxidermy direct to Neil. You could take what you wanted. We joked about having a credit card slot in your gunstock. Slide the card-- Bang !!!

TrophymanThanks to Bill C. for helping post the pics. I really appreciate the help.
Seven animals-seven shots. Ruger .30-'06 with Barnes 180 gr. TSX. Perfect performance of the rifle and the round. All heart shots. From 110 yds on the Impala to 220 on the Blesbuck. Farthest any animal went was 75 yds-- and that was the zebra. I am planning on the return trip in '09. Will definitely go with NB Safaris again. I was treated like royalty and put on many excellent animals. Taxidermist spent last 2 days with us. He had to drive 3 hours to get there. He said he likes to meet the hunter and see the animals as they come in. He is George Nell from African Expressions. Good man. 8 months delivery.
I am very happy with the results of my first safari. Thanks again to all of you that helped me with the hints, tips and knowledge you afforded me. It really helped alot.
Trophyman.
