These idiots in the media don't think for a second that .50 BMG is not the problem. Even if they ban the big .50, what is stopping people from necking it down to a completely legal .458 BMG or such ?
In California, the Big .50 was banned because it could be used as a sniper rifle

. The politicians who voted for the ban haven't seen a 1,000 yard benchrest compitition (and I am glad they haven't) otherwise our .300 mag's and .308's would be banned too . Heck any remchester walmart special hunting rifle can be a sniper rifle in the right (or wrong?) hands.
The price of knowledge is great but the price of ignorance is even greater.

CollinsRemember, one of their stated goals is to eliminate everything with an effective range of over 100 meters.
Harris, in my book that includes slingshots!!!

mike_elmerWell, believe it, or not, I am working within the local Democratic party to change some of the mis-information and platform issues about guns. I have recently started, and so far, I have been able to win many converts. Most are people who know nothing about the NRA and guns, other than what they are told by the media and certain representatives.
It was also an eye opener when I brought a copy of the Democratic Candidates who had a C or better NRA rating, and won their races in Pennsylvania. It is proof that the anti-gun stance is a loser.
All I can do is try, and it seems to be working because the Anti's cannot logically defend their positions; They can Only sow fear and demonize the unknown, in an attempt to scare the unknowing. Most Democrats (and especially the women) seem to sit up and take notice when someone speaks with experience and knowledge from across the table.
Wish me luck, I'm going deep!!!

My standard response when I get the "guns are evil" type mantra is to calmly reply, "Any time you would like to educate that opinion give me a call."
They usually shut up, but I too have gotten a couple of takers...
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.
