"The Rules"
*Entrance Fee - None.
*Guns - Any Style HANDGUN, any caliber (except for 50 yard match).
*Rests - 1 or 2 piece allowed. Store bought or Home Made Allowed. Bipods Allowed on all guns, NO vise type rests. Sand bags are legal with a maximum of 10 used.
*Wind flags and mirage boards - Legal for both matches. No limit on number used.
*Target for this match,
Fly Buster (Flies are just smaller than 3/4" from wing tip to wing tip.) There are NO target pasters or any other type of device or sighting aide legal to be used in shooting at this target. If you have any question regarding this, please ask.
*Number of shots per target - 5 shots are required per target per match (one at each fly). Targets containing greater than 5 shots will not be scored. The center area is NOT to be used for practice or sighters.
*Number of Matches - Three.
- 50 Yards for Rimfire HANDGUNS only. This class does allow the use of a scope up to 6x.
- 100 yards any caliber HANDGUN, any scope.
- 200 yards any caliber HANDGUN, any scope.
Each contestant may only enter each match once. You are NOT required to shoot all three matches nor are you required to shoot all matches with the same gun. You may enter one, two or all three.
*Target submission - All targets must list the distance shot, shooters name & state, gun, barrel length, caliber and must be signed by the shooter. ALL TARGETS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE JUDGE NO LATER THAN
April 25, 2003. All targets will become the property of LRHA. Only original target(s) will be scored, no photocopies. All contestants will accept the "Target Judge" results as final. Results will be posted by the Judge no later than
May 2, 2003.
*Scoring - Targets will be scored as follows. The target with the highest score wins.
Score Location of Hit
----- ---------------------------------------
10 - Peeper - A shot that hits the fly in the eye or head but does not break the body line.
8 - Splitter - A shot sufficiently centered in the waistline to completely sever the fly body.
5 - Forender - A shot cutting the body or head above the waistline.
4 - Rearender - A shot cutting the body or head behind the waistline.
3 - Winger - A shot cutting the wing and not touching the body.
2 - Legger - A shot cutting the leg beyond the wing or body outline.
1 - Spooker - The area closer to any portion of the fly than the outside diameter of the neck of the cartridge used.
0 - Whiffer - Beyond the diameter of the neck of the cartridge used.
