HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

YUP, [Wink] that is a BSA 30mm red dot on a 10" 44 MAGNUM barrel. I have a nice 240 grain Nosler load that will be used to sight it in.

The question.... [Roll Eyes]

Will it survive the sight in??????? [Razz]

I put 2 Tasco 40mm(?) dots on a 14" 7x30 one time...they didn't make 20 rnds. each!!! [Smile] Good luck. mvm

Hey I got one of those BSAs as a joke a year or two ago to see if I could waste it. put it on my 445 SM, 30-30 IMP and a 7-30 watrs when I sold it it still worked great
The only problem was I had to modify a weaver base to get the thing mounted.

It popped right on a standard weaver base (they must have fixed that). I bought it as i wanted to blow apart a sight.....it will probably hold up, LOL!

I did the same thing. Midway had them one time for $19.95 dealer price. I picked up two of them. I can't get mine to fail. It has been on a Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70, a 375X444 barrel, a 22 hornet barrel, a Marlin 336 in 32 SP, and 357 Mag revolver. I guess the next step is a 375 Ultra Mag?? I thought for sure that it would fall apart on the 45-70. That little gun beats my shoulder like you wouldn't believe. [Eek!]
But it did indeed survive well over two hundred rounds.

I still have them both installed. One is on my 22 hornet barrel. The other is on the 336. No problems to date. I have even been amazed at the battery life. I once left it on accidentally for a week and it is still going strong on the original batteries?!? I don't think I would want to depend on one of these on a dangerous game gun or in really wet conditions, but for plinking or casual hunting use there is nothing wrong with it.

We will find out on Sunday. I will sight it in (if it last that long) and then finish a box of 50 FULL POWER loads.

Buckweet, if ya put it on a 257tcu it would last a lifetime.... [Wink]

It will probably last 3 0r 4 lifetimes on a Max. I would try it on the 41 but know that it would only last for one shot... [Razz]

The mount gave way at round 39. I ma going to contact them to see if they are willin to assist me with it. The dot was starting to experience some dimness but a slight rap on the knob and all was bright again. SOOOOOOO, to answer Cas' questions, NO! IT WONT HOLD ZERO!! LOL!

Not a shocker... The BSA laser sight I have didn't even work when I got it. Had to fix it myself first.

I know that was done just for goofs, but it is hard to believe that someone would sell such a piece of junk like that! I am Curious to see if BSA Customer service will be interested in hearing your problem.

I have one on my 7-30 waters and it has lasted over 100 rounds- figured a cheap and fun attempt at makinf it easier to find game with its wide field of view. Works so far for me

You can still get a Leupold GIlmore Red Dot from CDNN - Best Red Dot I handled, apart from the Aimpoint models which are simply top notch!

I have never seen either of these fail....

I gotta tell ya that i am ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSED with Midway!! I sent them an e-mail about what had happened including pics and below is the response!

I sincerely apologize for the problem with this item. We'll be happy to take
back the sight for a refund. We don't recommend that you exchange because
these obviously won't hold up to a high recoil handgun. Please send the
sight back to us via UPS Ground or USPS Parcel Post, uninsured, with a brief
note explaining the reason for the return and that you'd like us to credit
your credit card.

NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! -

You can always try a nice lag bolt to try to salvage the mount.
