mranch.223 Loads
I finally received my Super 14" in .223. What bullets and powders are used in the .223? I'm sure someone has some favorite's for the cal.

Rich JakeHey Bob
Good to see you. I use 50 grain V Max Moly over 22 grains of 4198 with Fed small rifle primer. It gives me a 1" group at 100 yards & 1 5/8" group at 200 yards. That is a max load in the manual which I worked up to.
I also went a bit further with this powder & the moly bullet & worked out ok. I later cut it back to 22 in order to get better life out of the brass. I just wanted to see what I could do with the moly coated bullet.

tommynThere is a heck of lot of powders that work well in the 223. I have gotten the best results in contender 223's with H-4895. The above post with 4198 also is a good load. H-335 and WW 748 are great powders but seem to have more muzzle blast in the barrels I tried. Next 223 barrel I get I'm going to try Re-7.

KTS126.5 gr. W748 / Speer 52 gr. HP / CCI primer
This one worked great in both my 14 and 21 bbl.

Don ShearerMranch,
You might try some Accurate 2015 XMR. It was specifically formulated for the PPC cartridges and is an excellent powder for about any of the medium sized cases. In my 14" Bullberry 223 Match Contender, I use a Rem 7 1/2 primer, 25.0 grains of AA2015 and the Sierra #1200 40 grain bullet. That load in a 14" barrrel will give you right at 3000 f/s and it is pure death for prairie dogs out to somewhere around 250 yds. You will also note that the velocity standard deviations for that powder will be quite low - most of the time less than 10 f/s as it is very consistent.
Go have fun!!
