LDHunter500 S&W Encore Group Purchase *** Sissies Need NOT Apply!!!!! ***
Loudenboomer Fans,
I'm making a last call to get on the "sissiesneednotapply" Encore 500S&W
barrel deal provided by OTT (Mike Sirois).
Example pricing might get your attention.
Basic Shop Charge $175
26.5" Carbon/Matte Blue Barrel Blank Cost $55
Fluting $45
Threaded (removable) Muzzle Brake with Thread Protector $100
So for a 10"-26.5" Carbon/Blue 500S&W Magnum fluted Encore barrel with
threaded removable muzzle brake and thread protector...... Your cost would
be $375 (plus shipping to you).
Or you could just get it the cheapo way and get someone to split a 26.5"
blue barrel blank with you (each barrel would be 13.25") and don't get the
fluting or brake and have a total of $202.50 in each barrel.... Cheaper
than TC factory barrels but with OTT quality. (TC doesn't even make 500S&W
barrels)
Stainless will add $50 to your pricing and stainless barrel lengths will be
limited to 15" (without brake).
Now you know... "The Rest of The Story".... <grin>
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sissiesneednotapply/If you want to get "in on this" then you should be aware that Tuesday 9am is
the cutoff point to get your approved and complete order to me. 50% deposits
will be sent directly to Mike Sirois Friday and he'll order the blanks the
next week. He's assured me that turnaround times are about 10-12 weeks. The
other 50% will be paid to Mike upon completion.
All the info you need is on the website. Memberships to the list can only be
approved by myself or MSS Mike and you need to furnish us your full name,
address, and contact phone numbers, up front (private and confidential
email). This doesn't obligate you to buy but gives us a way to reach you if
things get fubar with Yahoo......
I'll be bow hunting this weekend so MSSMagnum Mike will be approving or
declining memberships if he's available while I'm gone.
Sissies, whiners, snivelers, wimps, momma's boys, and bed wetters NEED NOT APPLY!!!!!!!!!

casNo 50 Alaskan? (Hehehe... into 50's but have no Encore.)
20 September 2003, 11:30
LDHuntercas,
The 50 Alaskan would have been a good choice but with the 500S&W you can also get a revolver in the same caliber, brass is cheaper, dies are cheaper and easier to get... yada.. yada... yada....
We already have a 16 barrel order put together and I'm going to be sending out barrel order forms as soon as I can get them put together.... <pant... pant.... pant>

LDHuntercas,
Kule... We're 'bout full up on the 500 deal anyway... 17 barrels order... Bigger than I expected.
Mike's cutting us a pretty good deal.
I'm gettin' mine with all the toys... Fluting, Removable brake, Stainless.... I oughta be able to "wow 'em" at the range huh?.... <g>
It'd be an excellent elk cartridge I'm thinking. Or even a brown bear....
Now I gotta get started on figuring out where to start on a Unique plinking load for it....
Like a howitzer... Boom.... sssssst... Ploomp...
Leadheads makes bullets already and we're trying to get DW Mike to come up with a group deal on boolits.

casNo matter... as I said, I have no Encore... just making conversation and kicking around possibilitie.
Real facts are I've been selling barrels, not buying. Haven't played with my Contenders in over a year.
BRP also makes cast .501" bullets. 340 and a 380gr or somethnig.. dunno, been a long ttime.

casBRP cast bullets. They moved a while back and I can't come up with any of the new info other than the phone# 406-287-3120
brp@castload.com
I THOUGHT there was a website, but I may be confused with another company.

LDHunterMike72,
Hurry and get your order in. TCNut has already put his in and you'll be barrel #20.
He told me about your "split agreement" last night.
The response has kept me pretty busy typin' order forms.... (pant... pant... pant...)
The deadline for new applications is here. If you or anyone is serious about getting a barrel you're just about out of time.

casOk... just out of curiosity.. since I always wonderd... are you having problem finding a vendor for .501" barrels?
I had a 50AE built once and I always wonderd who made the blank. Up until the 500S&W came out the only thing that used .501" barrels was the 50AE. All the other .50 rifles and pistols use .510" barrels. (which was why I asked about the 50 Alaskan, a greater availabilty of bullets.

LDHunterThe CM blanks were no problem but it took some research to find stainless.

<HHI 812>There is another option for a cartridge like the .50 Alaskan! The .500 California Super is like the .500 S&W brass, but 2.1" long. And if you want a Special like case, there is the .50 JRH case, that will fit in the FA 555!
14 November 2003, 05:44
slothhey cas...where did you have you 50 alaskan revolver made? i've kicked around the idea of the 50 ae revolver, but don't trust my reloading skills to keep the bullets consistant enought that the round won't fall into the cylinder (with the rebated rim).
24 November 2003, 11:39
budreaux39I have been wanting one of these but found this site too late it seems
![[Frown]](images/icons/frown.gif)
If anyone has one they are not happy with, or an extra, I would be interested.
Thank you,

casNo... don't have a 50 Alaskan revolver...sure wouldn't want one either! lol I THINK someone was doing them on the BFR frame though? I HAD a P&R 50AE bisley but I was trying to use 400+ grain bullets in it without much luck. At and below 1200 FPs they worked ok, but above that was a problem. The crimp needed to hold them in the case compromised headspacing. The bullets would jump a bit, but the entire loaded cartridge would dive in past the the case mouth lip in the chamber. Was a 50/50 chance of them firing after the 2 round. Not fun. I gave it up to someone who was willing to shoot lighter bullets and had a 500L build. the good thing about the 500S&W is it will bring about a whole lot more useful bullets for those 50AE shooters still out there.
I've been kicking around the idea of a 16" 50 Alaskan with a dot, to shoot both ways. I really don't want a 50AK pistol though.. was was think I'd just go with the Linebaugh instead. Yet I keep thinking about getting it set up for Reeeeeally heavy bullets... so maybe the longer Alaskan case would work better. Perhaps I should go the old 50-70-750 route? Though I cant see why I couldnt just do the same thing with the 50 AK. Hmmmm..... Why do I need this again?
![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)
Of course my local range has a sign up "No 50 Cal rifles!" So i'll have to make my own wildcat... the .499 Express or something.
You said 500 S&W dies and brass was cheaper...? Are they selling components yet, or just loaded ammo?
[ 11-25-2003, 06:24: Message edited by: cas ]25 November 2003, 12:56
475/480You can get all components for the SW 500 -Dies, bullets, cases, plenty of reloading data ,I have about 1400 rounds (cast bullets only) thru mine, it shoots great,

My mistake, I meant the 50 Alaskan Short...I too would fear the true 50 Alaskan in a BFR.

cas500 Linebaugh and 50 Alaskan are the same case.... just ones a whole bunch longer.
