Anybody try the 100 gr barnes X in 7mm?
Looking at some load data and interpolating, it looks like the 14" 7BR, 7Bellm, 7X444 and maybe 7-30 should be able to launch this bullet around 2700 fps. From the barnes manual, it will be doing just under 2000 fps at 300 yds, and certainly has the trajectory for an honest 300 yd gun. From my understanding of the X bullet, it typically penetrates on par with heavier conventioanal bullets, which leads me to believe it should be on par with the conventional 120's launched @ 2400 fps, yet flatter shooting.

Just wondering if anyone has tried the combo on game, and how it performed?

Nope but i have used the 125X and 130XLC .308 out of my 15" 308 and they shoot great. They are also very effective on Deer. I will close by saying I havent taken any long shots with them and I dont know at what impact velocity they will fail to expand.
Good Luck

I've used the 140 gr Barnes XLC on deer and Antelope with my XP-100 in 7mm IHMSA. Works great!

According to Barnes, it will expand as low as 1600 fps.

I do not think Barnes makes the 100gr X bullets any more. I have them loaded in my 7-30 Waters and they work fine. But I have not been able to fine any more of the 100gr X bullets I think they stop making it.
