Jim Ingram has been out of it for many, many years.... probably 20 years or more. He lives in or around Grants Pass, OR where I live, and I have been trying to call him.

He was pointed out to me at a distance by a friend who knows him, but as yet, I have not taken the occasion to at least meet him. He is in his 80s I understand.

One point to bear in mind with the early barrels is that they were all made with flat bottom lugs, which while generally fine for moderate cartridges should not be chambered for the hotter rounds with largish chamber diameters and higher pressures. The lower lip of the barrel lug under the locking bolts might survive, but since it is thinner it is more prone to bending down under the pressure/backthrust load. I bent one I made with a standard .250 Savage years ago, shortly before TC came out with the stepped lug barrels in the early 80s.
