taylorjLone Eagle Handguns
How many other Lone Eagle shooters are there out there? I blew it years ago by not buying any new (no money then), but have since made up for that so far. I have acquired three pretty nice ones with all three being the satin nickel with the new style brake. They are 444, 308 & 7-08. Love them to death . I also shoot a 7-08 Savage Striker, but like the Lone eagle much better. It seems to fit my hand better & the recoil seemns less. Smooth shooting & easy to control. It is a shame that they are no longer made. The 444 gets your attention, but is still manageable.

Lynn BeierHey, it's good to hear there are other Lone Eagle shooters out there. Mine is in 358 Win, blued no brake. Really accurate, a gun that should have been better received. Wht I really like is it's small size as compared to other pocket rifles. Maybe someone will pick up the design. Lynn

taylorjHey Lynn, do a search for the Competitor pistols - very similiar design (cannon breech) & outlandish calibers (458 Win. Mag., 7mm STW, etc.). The barrels will not interchange with a Lone Eagle, but action & grip are very similiar. Could be a source for a future purchase if I can't find a used Lone Eagle that I want.
By the way, I would love a 358 Win. - a very underrated pistol & rifle round. It is too bad that it too never really caught on.

HairtriggerI also own a Competitor. The trigger is way better than the Lone Eagle.
I have heard horror stories about Competitor but have no first hand expierence.

SCGunNutI've got one in 7mm BR Rem. I always thought they were homely but couldn't turn it down when CDNN blew them out a couple years ago for $200. I stuck a cheap Swift 1-4 scope on it and the darn thing shoots like a rifle at 100 yards with a random handload. A buddy has one of the original Ordnance Tech versions in .357 Herrett and it shoots great too. Been meaning to shoot a deer with mine but the deer haven't cooperated yet. Maybe next year.

Idaho SharpshooterSeveral years back I had two frames, and four barrels. 22 Hornet, 223, 35 Rem, and a 444 Marlin.
The 444 was a real beast! Anybody have a website or phone number for Competitior? If so, PM me.
Thanks...

taylorjThe Competitor site is www. competitor-pistol.com/index.hmtl. Should come up quite easily for you.
Yes, the 444 is a real monster to control & I have a slight repetitive shooting injury in my left hand from shooting it too much - nothing to see a Dr. about but my thumb joint is more prone now to injury. But it does say Hello with a capital H to whatever you point it at !!

Idaho Sharpshootertaylorj,
thanks for the data, I called Al a bit ago and got three ordered. 223, 6.5-284 and 9,3x62, all 16" barrels, and a set of Al's custom dies cut with the same reamer set he uses to chamber pistols. One synthetic, one wood frame. I think my wife hates you! At least she will when she sees the bill...
regards,
Rich
