pistoljesssavage switch barrel
Has anyone got experience with the Midway/Savage switch barrel? Will this apply to a Stryker? I have always wanted a switch barrel. It looks like to me you could buy you an 110 action from Savage and build a switch barrel pistol!!!!cost wouldn't as much as an XP. Before someone tears up a Savage 110 and makes a pistol out of it ATF frowns on it severely. Looks like you could put anybodys barrel on it if it is made for the 110. I saw the switch barrel article in the american rifleman today. Is the action on a stryker same as or close to the 110?

bigbore50akand the answer is that the stryker is same to the 10 not 110 if its got 2 numbers in model its a short action if its 3 numbers its a long action so if id put a 338-06 on a stryker it would be a single shot. jason

Lone HunterThe Striker is a short action. Correct? Lone Hunter

savageshooterYes, the Striker is a short action. Like was said, it is a model 10 action, so all the barrels fit. Just get a Sharpshooter's Supply barrel-nut wrench and have some fun!

pistoljessDumb question> Can you convert to savage smokeless by buying a new bolt and barrel. Would make one helluva pistol. I have never had a savage smokeless muzzleloader in my hands so this may be dumb, but I was thinking of buying a stryker and use it for varmints deer and deer during muzzleloader season. Thanks

savageshooterWhy wouldn't you just buy an Encore with a muzzle-loader barrel? Also, watch out for the regs, some muzzle-loader hunts are rifle only. You'ld have to use it during the regular season.

pistoljessI like the idea of a smokeless muzzleloader. I saw some of the pictures on the savage site that show great damage with a smokeless muzzleloader. I couldnt do this much in a pistol(probably too much recoil etc.) but when you see a picture of a doe with her head blown up you could load at 75% and still have all the power you want. They are ralking 3000 fps with a 175 gr. slug if I remember right. I dont know of anyone trying smokeless in a encore(at least that either has any sense or more balls than I do)
