jffrybrght6.5JDJ fireform loads
Getting a new barrel from MAINER in this caliber. Don't have dies....yet, but need a recommended fireform load. Heavy bullets to start? Or any, just start at reduced loads to fireform?

Bobby TomekWhile you can fireform with virtually any bullet weight, you'll get best results with a 140 grainer gently seated into (or as close as you can get to) the rifling.
The Rem 140 gr PSP-CL bulk-packed bullets are inexpensive and work very well. Use a load that features a slightly slower powder such as H4350, Re-19, etc. so that you'll get a compressed load. This, combined with the bullet seated to the rifling, gives ample support to the case during fireforming.
Dropping 10 percent from any of the suggested "book loads" geberally works just fine. But if you get a case that's not fully formed, add a half-grain more powder and try again until you find the right recipe.
By the way, I think I remember seeing 6.5 JDJ dies on e-bay earlier today.
