suenoskid375 JDJ and Cast Boolits
Has anyone used cast boolits sucessfully with the 375 JDJ?
Thanks, Jim
I have some 280gr. cast bullets I made from an NEI mould. Haven't tried them yet, but it appears that the base of the bullets are going to extend a ways past the shoulder.
I've read that cast bullets should not extend past the bottom of the neck or it could cause leading. I don't know, since I haven't tried it yet.
I still need to heat treat the bullets and then I'll give them a try.

Paul HI haven't tried that combo, but will say my experience has been keep the base of the bullet in the neck for accuracy.
Out of a pistol barrel you'll be hardpressed to hit 2000 fps with a 280 gr, so I see no need for heat treating. If anything an air cooled wheelweight bullet should perform perfectly, with the nose opening up on impact.

ranb40I have used the NEI 350 grain GC mold in my 375jdj. The recoil is substantial even when pushed to only 1600 fps.
