I have some 280gr. cast bullets I made from an NEI mould. Haven't tried them yet, but it appears that the base of the bullets are going to extend a ways past the shoulder.

I've read that cast bullets should not extend past the bottom of the neck or it could cause leading. I don't know, since I haven't tried it yet.

I still need to heat treat the bullets and then I'll give them a try.

I haven't tried that combo, but will say my experience has been keep the base of the bullet in the neck for accuracy.

Out of a pistol barrel you'll be hardpressed to hit 2000 fps with a 280 gr, so I see no need for heat treating. If anything an air cooled wheelweight bullet should perform perfectly, with the nose opening up on impact.

I have used the NEI 350 grain GC mold in my 375jdj. The recoil is substantial even when pushed to only 1600 fps.
