McCluraScored with my new 309JDJ
I was hunting in NW Oklahoma on a special doe(antlerless) day. Took a 130 doe with my 309 JDJ 14" that I just got from GonHuntin.
The doe was feeding in a wheat field at 230 yards.

Broadside hit, double lung. Took a rib on entry and a rib on exit with about a 1" exit hole. I was shooting from a blind with x-sticks.
The 150 grn Nosler Ballistic tip worked perfect.
The doe hit the ground, got up and traveled less than 20 yards and piled up. I have been practicing a week with this pistol and loads at 200 yards just for this hunt. Thanks Mark on the barrel deal.

I know it's going to be a good whitetail and hog cartridge.

Bobby TomekCongrats on making a fine shot.
Now that's my idea of "breaking in" a barrel...

<SD Handgunner>I second that motion on a great way to break in a barrel. Congrats on the great shooting, and especially taking the time to practice at the ranges you were anticipating shots to come at.

Rich JakeGood shot that's not easy off cross sticks at that range. Glad to see others with good luck this year.

<IKE>Cograts on the deer Mike !
Also being in Norman we'll have to get together one of these days and do a little shooting and swap some lies at Tri-City Gun Club.
I'm the IHMSA Match Dir. at TCGC, come on out and knock over some iron with us this coming spring.

McCluraIke, I have talked with you a couple of times at the range. I'm the one that bought the 7-30 Waters cannon from Lloyd.

I got this barrel from GonHuntin in Sand Springs. The 309 is a blast to shoot, in more ways than one. I cleared out the shooting benches the other day when I touched off a round on the 200 yard range.

I'm just glad it doesn't have a break on it. It is easy to control without it. I sure want to try my hand at some of that steel shooting. I tried it about 10 years back with my revolver. Sure was a hoot.
If you are at the range much in the next month or so I will probably be there on weekends getting my other 7-30 barrel sighted in with some new loads.
Take care and hope to see you soon at the range.
Mike
