Contender and Encore Prices
I am considering buying a Contender or Encore. I have tried to find prices on the net, and have come up with prices I think are a little high. I went to Gander Mountain in Lansing, Mi. and the only one they had was a used ENCORE 15" 22-250 with a TC Recoil Proof on it. The finish showed lots of wear with dents on the barrel and scope. They wanted 750 bucks for it.
What is a good price for a new Contender, a used Contender, A new Encore, and a used Encore.

Call Ed Kirkpatrick at Ed's contenders in Oklahoma. He has best prices and anything you could want in Contender and Encore. Great guy to deal with and cheap shipping. Try calling him before 2pm daytime and leave message if not available. He will call you back, may even be a couple of days, but he always does call. Haven't had much luck with his email though. Get his phone number from web site. His web site does not come close to listing what he has in stock.

The Contender frames are any where from $150 and up (used).
The Encore frames can be had for around $180 and up (used).
Used barrels for both of the above have been running from $150 and up.
Watch the frame deals, some guys are taking the grips off and selling them seperate. Kinda like buying a car with no wheels in my opinion.
I am not saying the prices I threm at you are that low, but they can be had if you do some looking and have patients. You didn't say what exactly the scope was in your post, but that package is still way over priced in my book. I would tend to think more in the way of about $450-$550 max.

If you are looking for a good buy. Get the items separately. A frame goes from $175 up depending on condition. A barrel can be had for as little as $100 for octagon and $130 up for round. Check varmint sites like this one or Graybeard or even EBAY. Almost all used barrels and frames will have friction marks from opening and closing pivot points. I have bought, sold, and traded TC stuff for over 10 years. There is a lotta stuff out there for the bargain hunter, if he or she puts in the time. Good hunting.
