Nashcat7-08 Striker questions
I ran across a deal on a 7-08 Striker last weekend at the gun show in Nashville, and have a couple of questions for anyone who has one of these pistols.
First, do you have any favorite loads? I'll be punching paper more than hunting, so I'm mainly looking for accuracy. Do you use SSP bullets at these velocities, or do use use rifle bullets?
Second question is how to shoot the Striker from sand bags. I know my Contender shoots best with just one bag, placed just in front of the trigger guard. Does this make sense for the Striker, or is it better to rest the forend and grip on bags? I don't want to add a bipod if I don't have to.
Looks like the weather is going to be mostly wet this weekend......That just means I'll get a little wet at the range Saturday. I may even try the fly target!
Thanks

xphunterNashcat,
An old favorite load is 40.0 H-4895 with a 140 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. Shot in the .2's & .3's @ 100 yards. I use a tri-pod front rest on the front and bags on the rear. My front rest also has a front bag attached to it.

Nashcatxphunter, thanks for the load info. I have some 4895 and some 140gr Noslers, so I'll give it a try. I'll also try the two bag setup.
KENTX, It's good to hear that you're moving to the beautiful state of Tennessee. When I say "Middle Tennessee", I mean from East to West. I'm just south of Nashville, which is about 250 miles east of Memphis. I don't know about ranges in Memphis, but we have several around this area.

Lone HunterNashcat, I have a Lone Eagle in 7mm08. Like the round a lot. If you do hunt deer with it I would not use Sierras 130 gr.sspb. They are made for 7-30 waters velosity and will blow up on close shots on deer. Should work great on varmits. Lone Hunter

xphuntersscoyote (after he bought my 7-08 XP)used the 120 BT's and 42.0 grains of H-4895 (and if I am correct up to 44 grains). I would check with him to confirm that. I am sure of the 42 grain load though.
