<Fireball>I sent an order in for some cast bullets from...western......10 days now and no bullets and no replies.
BBT is who you used?? think I will try them.
I am VERY interested in the results you get.
Appears from the photo you can seat them out to touch the rifling??

Magnum MikeThis bullet will seat out long enough easily that i cannot chamber it in my Competitor. Billy Marr specifically mentions that you should be able to reach the lands in a TC barrel.
Here is his site >
BBT Cast BulletsHe sent me 50 of these to try for $7.50 including shipping!! I told him i was sendin payment and he mailed em the next day!
If these shoot well, i am thinkin about gettin 500..... These should also work well for IHMSA.

Nice looking loads! What scope or sights are you using on that barrel?

Thanks Sean! I have a Burris 2-7 with Posi-lock with Competitors STEEL Universal (cross slot or dual dovetail rings) base (pic below) and Burris Zee rings. I like the scope a lot but the jury is still out on the freakin posi-lock. I have other Burris variables and no lock and dont seem to need it....

Sean VHA #60013It will be interesting to see how your pistol does!
For what it is worth, I do not like the Burris Posi-Lock scopes. I really dont like Them! The Posi-Lock adjustment knob is thin and easily damaged during adjustment, and always seems to move zero once you tighten it down, which requires a bit of guess work in estimating and allowing for the shift while sighting in.
I have never noticed my handgun or rifle scopes to change point of impact due to adjustment knobs etc moving under recoil, but rather due to poor mounts/rings etc so I think that in ways the posi-lock is alleging to fix a problem that is for the most part not broken???

TCLouisH110 and Lyman cast bullet load.
Is this in their "new" cast bullet loading manual?
Whatever it is I will just buy a copy so I can look at other such loads!

Magnum MikeI did get the chance to test these loads today!! I do NOT have anything great to report as both loads ran in the 1" range for 5 shots at 50 yards!! I did notice that all four 5 shot groups showed smaller 2 or 3 shot group and then another group slightly away from the other. I believe that this freakin scope is changing POI. I had suspected this when it was on my Fireball barrel as i was able to obtain better groups with a Burris 1.5-4 @ 100 yards than i could with this 2-7. I have loaded up some more test rounds and am gonna try a different scope. I hope to get this posted here this week.....

Both loads were very clean and there appears to be NO lead in the bore. I will know when i clean it later.

MSSmagnum,
For what it is worth, in addition to my own experiences, I recall that Doc Larry Rogers who frequently used to write in the HHI Sixgunner, complained of a Burris 2-7 Posi-lock that shifted POI. Seems like a problem that is a frequent complaint, at least frequent enough to really suspect the scope.

Magnum MikeSean,
I have a Leupold 4x or an older Burris 2.5x-7x (with no posi-lock) that i could try also. I am going to try that first...... While i have the scope off i am going to check those rings too! I have had trouble with Burris Zee rings on guns with heavy recoil but i wouldnt exactly say that the 7tcu has heavy recoil..... We'll see.....
