"Off the Beaten Path" Loads for an encore 7mm-08
I've been hanging around as a guest for a while, and finally decided to join in the discussion.

I've got someload data on 120gr BTs and 139gr SSTs with Varget, H4895, RE15, etc. I just switched out my .243 Win 15" barrel for a 7mm-08. Primary reason - the .243's 1/10 twist wasn't enough to stabilize anything over 85gr in my barrel, and the 7/08 is 1/9 twist and should offer a better range of medium game bullets.

I'm looking for any data for 120 NBT's that uses H322 or Reloder 10x. I know that it's marketed as a good bench rest powder, and for use with light .308 loads on Alliant's website. Anyone tried it? Any load data?

Any pet loads for my setup? Barrel is a standard 15" T/C stainless.

Thanks in advance.

I have no loads for H322 or RL-10x but I do get 1 MOA or better groups with mine using Hornady 139 gr. SP over Varget.

I have a copy of Hodgdon's 2006 Annual Manual. For some unknown reason they don't list any 120-grain loads for the 7mm-08. They do list 100 and 130-grain loads for 15" barrels with a 1 in 9.5 twist, using Remington cases and Remington No 9 1/2 primers.

Neither H322 or R 10X powders are listed. Varget produced the highest velocities in the Hodgdon data for the 100, 130 and the 139-grain bullet weights in the 7mm-08. I will give the starting and max loads, powder charge, velocity, and maximum pressures for each bullet weight.

100 Gr BAR XFB COL: 2.650"

Varget 42.0 - 2636,..45.7 - 2931 fps 49,600 @ CUP.

130 Gr HDY SP COL: 2.80"

Varget 40.0 - 2460,..43.5 - 2710 fps @ 50,100 CUP.

139 Gr HDY SP COL: 2.80"

Varget 40.5 - 2436,..43.5 - 2612 fps @ 50,000 CUP.

Thanks for your replies. I've actually found some limited data for Re7, and the Alliant rep told me Re10x has similar characteristics to H322, so I figured that there may be some acceptable Re10x loads with bullets on the lighter side. Almost everything I see for most accurate and/or highest velocity for the 7mm-08 is Varget or H4895. Why mess with a good thing, I suppose.

Thanks again.
