Tony DFinally Clocked 308 Bellm Load
Well, I finally got a chance to clock the 125 gr BTs last night. The load is 51.5 gr Win 760 and Win LR primer. They are running just under 2600 fps.
Last night I put 5 shots in a group under 3.5" at 200 yards. I think these'll work for speed goats!

Isn't the .308 Bellm just a blast to shoot!! I really enjoy it. My load is Hornady's 130 SSP bullet and 44.5grs. of IMR 4895. I'm getting around 2600 with my barrel also. I'll be hunting mulies in a week or so here in Oregon with it.
Good luck with yours!

Rich JakeGood luck on the hunt Tony!
I have my 308 Bellm on a 14" Hunter barrel it is just short of 2400 Fps with WW760 & 2360 with Imr4895 with 150 gr Bal tips. Ihaven't had a chance to hit big game with it yet but have hit small game with it & it did a job on it!

Tony DI never did chrony my loads with Win 760 and the Hornady 130 SSPBs. I've heard they may be a little faster than the 125 gr BTs because of less bearing surface. Have to try a few of those again after the trip.
Yes, it is a blast to shoot. Someday I'll have to rig up a Don Bower like shooting system to see what it will really do!

DennisFThe .308 Bellm is a great round in a Contender. The first time mine will be used for hunting will be by a friend's son. At 14 he is a little short for a full size rifle but with the 16" barrel and a carbine stock (Contender's carbine stocks seem to run short) it makes a dandy little rifle for a young one. Kind of makes me sad not to get to bring first blood with it myself, but I think it will be great if the kid shoots his first deer with my rifle and handloaded ammo (plus he fell in love with it when I showed it to him). His dad told me while we were out shooting last weekend that he is going to get a Contender after after season ends.
Here are the velocities I am getting out of my 16" .309 Bellm using 51 gr. of W760
125 gr. B/T 2639 fps
130 gr. Speer hollowpoint 2659 fps
130 gr. Hornady SSP 2667 fps
All were 5 shot averages.
