It finally arrived !
Ole Ed Kirkpatrick came by work today and dropped off my new TC Custom Shop heavy barrel (.995 OD), 12 1/2", matte, Encore barrel in .260 Rem. that arrived early this morning.

He also had my new RCBS dies, a Burris base and set of Burris rings, and a new TC walnut forend for heavy barrels plus a box of Rem. factory 140gr Core-Lokt's to play with till my brass arrives.

The overall workmanship of the barrel itself, bluing, crown etc. seem to be flawless and if it shoots as good as it looks it should be a real tack driver.

Going back to my post on 3-29 where I ask which 6.5 bullet to use, I'll be going with the suggestion of Bobby T. and XPhunter and I'm going to pick up some 120gr Nosler BT's, I still plan on giving Varget a try first.

I've already given the barrel a good cleaning and plan on getting the scope mounted tomorrow evening after work and I'll head to the range either Sat. or Sunday morning early to at least fire the factory ammo.

I'll bet the .260 is going to be a sweet shooter. One of my friends has a model seven in that cal and absolutely loves it, super accurate.
Whatcha going to use it on?

Actually Bgood being friends with Ed and helping him run his tables at the local gun shows is not all that desireable, especially when it comes to ones wallet. It seems that he's always got some new toy lying around that I just can't live without. <bg>

The .260 will be used primarily for deer hunting but if after getting it scoped it comes in under 6 lbs. it may very well see a IHMSA match or two.

About three months ago I picked up a 12 1/2" matte, heavy barrel (1.020" OD) Virgin Valley Encore barrel in 7mm08, that I really like the weight and feel of, it just looked so lonely that I went ahead and got a twin to it built in .260. <bg>
