Are any of you guys using the bushing type dies? If so what do you think of them.

I own a Neil Jones FL die. Custom made to match the chamber of my rifle using fireformed cases. It uses shoulder bump bushings that can be changed out for a specific neck size. The smoothest die I have ever used. The cartridge is a 257 wildcat based on a 270 win case blown out. 25 degree shoulder.

Jeff - I'm using the Redding variety. I think they're great! They're not the cheapest die around, but I really like the option of being able to size the neck to EXACTLY the size that my brass wants. It also seems to make seating the bullet easier because it hasn't been oversized.

As a side benefit, I'm was able to mitigate the cost of them by buying one 7 TCU neck resizing die with .303" & .284" so I can use the same die on my 6.5 TCU. Also, I use those titanium nitride (or whatever the fancy material is called) so I don't have to lube up the necks. I just make sure to have clean brass before running them through.

Frankly, I don't see any reason why you couldn't do the same thing for your 6 TCU & 7 TCU.

I have used the Wilson bushing dies and the Redding with good success. It just depends how far you want to go to squeak out the most accuracy. On certain guns I go as far as I can, and on others I use basic dies.

Well thanks guys for the input. I e-mailed Redding and they said that their company policy was to go up one or down one caliber in the same cartridge family. So the way I see it if I get the one to do the 6.5 TCU I could use it on the 6 TCU, 6-223 and the 7 TCU?
Brett you going to Higginsville Sat.? If so could you throw your die in so I could look at one? Get an exspurt's advice?

I'm not going to be in Higginsville...too much going on at the ol' homestead (just had a son). On top of that I managed to get a cold (something about run down immune systems with sleep deprivation). So you'll have to knock 'em all down for me!

Frankly, I don't see why the same die wouldn't work for any of the cases (TCU family). The only thing you would probably have to watch is how far down the neck you can resize. It seems that when I resize my 6.5 brass i cannot quite reach the top of the shoulder before feeling some sort of resistence that I cannot account for. I decided that it wasn't vital to get the whole neck anyway and backed the die off just a bit. I think that I'm still resizing all of the neck except for maybe .005-.010" just above the top of the shoulder. I just don't see where that is going to make any difference and I can't argue with results!

By the way, you know what an "exspurt" is don't you. An "ex" is a "has been" and a "spurt" is simply a "drip under pressure"! Then again...maybe that does apply!
