SeattleGuy15" .270 Encore - 1st timers range report
A few weeks ago I asked you guys for some advice on a brand new 15" .270 barrel I spotted on sale for $149. Today I took it the range for the first time.
I admit I had been flinching from before I even bought it. But it isn't bad at all. Not much in the way of muzzle climb, just a sharp slap in the palm of the hand. Makes me wonder what that .30-06 barrel would be like...
Maybe we should measure recoil in terms of how many rounds you would shoot before calling it a day? In that case this is easily a 50-100+ rounds a day kind of gun.

patncor_2000Seattleguy, sounds like you need to get your hands on a barrel that will come up and smack ya square in the fo hed. Ive got a 15" 35 whelen Imp w/a removable brake if that 270 gets too boreing for you.

xphunterSeattle Guy,
Congrats on the new barrel. Now that you know it is not going to hurt you, begin focusing on just letting the recoil happen and work on your fliching. If you have someone you shoot with let him load for you knowing he will be switching from live ammo to fired cases. Most of us have to focus on not flinching. Keep your main focus on your crosshair and keep your head down throughout the shot. The 06 will basically have the same recoil if you shoot the same weight bullets. Isn't it fun shooting an 06 based case in a specialty handgun?

Colt_SAASeattleGuy,
Was this a standard barrel or one of the MuzzleTamers from T/C?
I have a MT barrel in .308 and was very impressed with the lower than expected recoil of the combination.
