TC used to make the Scout in 50 and 54 caliber, but they dropped it and except for muzzleloading barrels fopr the Contender/G2 and Encore we are bereft of a decent smoke belching handgun as far as I know.

I read a pos in som forum where someone had collected a deer with the traditions and from their posted data they were able to replicate the 44 Mag with black powder loads in the Traditions (250 grain bullet @ 1250 fps).

I handled a Traditions MZ pistol in November and was very impressed. It won't handle more than 70 grain loads though.

It is very light and easy to handle but the guy said it had fairly sharp perceived recoil.

I had an Encore MZ pistol barrel and by the time I added a scope it was pretty darned heavy. Accurate and strong but HEAVY. I sold it and will probably just buy another (used to have one) Ruger Old Army and use 777 with it.

The scout is a good choice. I have a friend that has one and it's sweeeeet.
